There are few Dutch photographers whom welcomed as many international personalities in his studio as photographer Govert de Roos. Blondie, Emmylou Harris, Gloria Estefan, Grace Jones, Leonard Cohen, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston; just a small selection of the many artists he welcomed over time.
Govert’s career started out in the sixties. As a fifteen-year-old he managed to sneak in at Yoko Ono‘s and Sean Lennon‘s famous Bed-In in Amsterdam’s Hilton Hotel. Impressed by Govert’s guts he was subsequently hired as a trainee by famed photographer Nico van der Stam.
In the mid-1970s Govert de Roos opened his own studio, working for various magazines and record companies. Among Govert’s works are more than a hundred album covers. The number of magazine covers has exceeded the thousand. Over the years Govert’s name has become inextricably linked to the entertainment industry.
